Norway: Days 4-6

Oh my, the last couple of days have been such a whirlwind :) We have spent them in Geiranger, Norway which is a small tourist town in the western part of Norway. Geiranger sits at the head of the Geiranger fjord, and is a beautiful place. Norway is such a stunning and unspoiled country and is really for the nature lover and outdoorsman. It's amazing that such beauty still exists anymore. Over the last three days we have used Geiranger as a home base to tour the fjords, and have ridden the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt. The ferry ride is lovely. There are many, many pictures from the ferry ride. While on the ferry, we also passed many cruise ships which would come into Geiranger for the day. Many of the places that we have visited over the last three days included a summer ski slope which is full of snow believe it or not, the Trolls Road which was totally amazing; it's an ancient pack road over the mountains. At the top, there was also snow, and you can see how thick the snow is by several of the pictures. Yesterday we visited Sele, Norway which is on the very western coast. It has beautiful sandy beaches, and strangely enough is a surfers paradise. While there, we visited an old Viking Road called Dragsedit where the Vikings carried their boats over this pass to reach the sea. The picture of the cross, is where one of the Viking kings around 998 AD converted 4 counties in Norway to Christianity. The 4 rune stones that surround the cross symbolize those counties. This morning we left Geiranger for Oslo and traveled through Lillehammer, Norway which was the home of the 1995 winter Olympics. I tooks some pictures today of the Olympic ski jump and the city scape of Lillehammer. It is really a pretty town. Tomorrow we spend in Oslo, and then Thursday and Friday we will be in Stockholm, Sweden. . .
